The highway between Joshimath and Badrinath is blocked due to cloudburst hundred of pilgrims are stuck in Chamoli distric of Uttarakhand. Cloud burst on Monday flooded the Alakananda which washed away the road from Badrinath to Vishnuprayag on Independence Day, thousands of people are trapped at Lambargh and Barhaharhi.
The Board Roads Organisation was successful in clearing the landslide near Lambargh but people were still struck in Badrinath-Joshimath highway has suffered heavy damage. Cloudbrust puah the level of Alaknanad river washed away the most of the portion of the road from Badrinath to Vishnuprayag. Due to rainy season there is low flow of pilgrims and some was stuck in the Badrinath, the process started to repair roads for war-footing and expect to make this complete. In the second week of the September the Char Dham yatra will pick up pace.
