Srinagar International Airport will be closed for repair for 12 days, this is second time in 12 years. There will be no flights from the Srinagar. Airport is being closed for re-surfacing of the runway, domestic travellers will have to reschedule their plans. Indian Air Force authorities do not allow domestic flights to operate from Awantipora air force station in Pulwama district. Srinagar Airport was closed earlier for three months in 1998, it was decided to close the airport from June 15 this year, but postpone the up gradation of the runway in the view of the tourist season. Srinagar have only one runway and needs to be resurfaced it. The Airport Authority of India does not have own runway strips but hires services, they have only own terminal building and airstrip around 12000 square feet. The Indian Air Force authorities agreed then to allow domestic flights from Awantipora in south Kashmir, 33 km from Srinagar.
