On Friday Miami International Airport was shut down for several hours after screeners at airport spotted a metal canister inside the luggage "that greatly resemble a pipe bomb", of a scientist that eventually turned out to be "a legitimate experiment."
Authorities say the device was not explosive and the 70 year old scientist was free to go, as he cooperated fully, by telling investigators that the canister was used for medical testing only.
Most of the Miami airport was closed for hours as a bomb squad team dealt with the canister. Police said, "except for Concourse J, all other concourses were closed before the situation was resolved".
The airport reopened early Friday.
